The Southern States won their first NCAA title game against Oklahoma State 11-0 in 2010, but fell in the final game of the regular season and won the regular season title, but went on to win the tiebreak - in 2011 in Austin against the University of Texas - 12-12.

Ford said these guys need to learn that they can compete against the best 5A teams in this state.

They know that winning the Carl Albert Tournament is hugely important to the programme, but they also know that this programme has been working for years. On Saturday it was really exciting to see these guys get a lot of bonus points and fight well enough to give us the boost we needed.

The Spartans won their third consecutive title and don't expect to slacken anytime soon. In the 2012 season, SNU ranked second in the nation in goals against average (3.5) and points (44) and entered the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. Storm had the second-leading scorer in NCAA Division II history, and finished the game with a record of 10-4-2-1, which was enough for third place in their conference.
